The saying goes: A picture speaks a thousand words. Unfortunately, I lost all my Japan pictures along with my phone, and the only way to keep the memories fresh is to... write a thousand word for the images that is still (hopefully) fresh in mind. (This paragraph written before the phone was found)
The striking red against the white snow.
Nikko and Takayama in winter are two of the best places to witness these images. Red torris at the entrances of shrines, red bridges coated with "white icings", the red temple architecture against snow white backdrop. My little red scarf. These cold snowy images conjure poignant metaphors.
A tinge of blood in pale calmness.
