So it's been quite some time since I've last blogged consistently. Life has been pretty much a whirlwind and I've been stirred into this crazy acceleration. Well, enjoying every bit of it despite feeling a little disoriented. So here goes the updates on bits and pieces of what's been taking place recently.
#1 Saros staff for General Election
Served my national duty as a staff based in the counting centre. It was a rather eye-opening experience to witness the counting process. Not elaborate but very systematic and at least I think it's fair. The voting slips had also been modified based on the experience from last election and hence this time round there ain't much dispute over the rejected votes. Being the only GRC that requires a recount, you can imagine how we were forcing ourselves to stay awake in the early morn, at 3am. Close shave, we have the haze and the intermittent votes announcements to keep us entertained.
#2 Phantom of the Opera
So, being bored to tears at the Saro Station from Morning till we're official activated in the evening, there are so much free time that I've finished a book and managed to keep myself sane by walking rounds and rounds in the school hall. (Yes, colleagues must have been suspecting I am one of the random phantoms who've lost her way home after Hungry Ghost Festival. )The book actually have a different narration from the movie, and a different ending too. Phantom isn't as sympathetic as the movie and theater play made him out to be. Regardless, he is a selfish character and made so by the environment he grew up in. It's always a 50% nurture and 50% nature. C'mon, throw two different people into the same environment and we won't be surprised to see different outcomes. So end day, it's character, personality and mental states that play a significant part in determining the turnout of a person. I used to sympathize with the phantom a lot, was even heart broken that Christine had not chosen the Phantom who gave her a voice. Yet, now, in her shoes, I would have chosen Raoul, who respects Christine for who she is, without the obsession of possessing her for himself.
# Inside Out
This is one good movie which portrays all the mental processes of emotions in simple language and analogies. Love the way the movie played out how depression is formed uncontrollably. How apt it is in conveying the theme that every emotions in within us, is crucial to the formation of our personality. And may I add, to our growth and maturity as a person. Too much of any one of the emotions, it's a recipe for disaster.
So the list is not exhaustive, and time is running out. Heading out for assembly, till then...
